Mt Hood Women’s Health is interested in integrating conventional medicine along with complementary therapies to treat the whole person and not just the disease. We are privileged to work alongside other licensed professionals to offer these expanded services to you.
Complementary health services include acupuncture, massage therapy, mental health counseling, and yoga classes. These healing modalities, when combined with conventional medical care, can bring increased health and wellness benefits. These allied professionals collaborate with the providers of Mt Hood Women’s Health, to provide an approach that may offer a more comprehensive response to your medical concerns and your overall well being.

Please visit Michelle's website or call 503-665-9355 to schedule an appointment.
Michelle is the daughter of a registered nurse and has always wanted to be in the medical field. After earning her Master’s in Chinese Medicine from The Academy of Chinese Healing Arts in Sarasota, Florida, she travelled west to visit family and landed in Portland, which she considers home.
Michelle opened Acupuncture Works LLC in 2001, and has been blessed to work in a career that she is passionate about. Her philosophy in medicine is to treat each person as a unique individual, therefore treating the person rather than the condition or disease. Informing each person on home care therapies, acupressure and relaxation techniques results in a relationship where practitioner and patient work together to promote optimum health and well-being. During her sessions, Michelle has a professional and caring manner. She takes time to explain what she is doing and loves to educate her clients on the workings of acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
Married with children of the furry and feathery variety, Michelle enjoys hiking, motorcycle riding, traveling, scuba diving and gardening. She enjoys cycling around the state of Oregon as well commuting to work.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy lowers the stress hormone cortisol which boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure and increases vascular and lymphatic circulation. Massage also helps relieve back pain, chronic pain, treatment of sports injuries and provides a relaxing environment to decrease anxiety and depression.

Please visit Nadine's website.
Nadine believes counseling is a joint effort, which cannot be successful without your hard work, energy and courage.
Therapy provides a safe place to explore reactions, thoughts, and feelings about people in your life as well as yourself. It allows you the opportunity to practice new ways of interacting and, when ready, to try these in other relationships.
Nadine believes that each individual has a unique view of the world, based on his/her role in it. She uses a solution-focused approach and incorporates dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR as well as creative therapies to tailor the therapeutic experience to your need. Nadine uses respectful curiosity to invite you to envision your preferred future. She believes that people are designed for self healing and that sometimes they need help to start this process.
Nadine enjoys working with adolescents, individuals, couples and families. She welcomes your questions or comments about the work you do together.
Yoga Classes
Yoga is for all ages and body types. The truth is you're never too old to improve flexibility. A series of yoga poses called asanas work to safely stretch your muscles — increasing strength and range of motion, and improving balance and your overall sense of well being. In one study, yoga participants had up to 35% improvement in flexibility after only eight weeks of yoga. Mt Hood Women's Health offers yoga classes in a small group setting in six-week sessions, in addition to private and semi-private instruction.
Please visit Paleena's website for current yoga class schedule.
Paleena has long recognized the powerful health effects of yoga on the mind, body and spirit. She has had personal experience with her own athletic enhancement from a yoga practice.
She became an instructor in 2006 to share the gift of yoga with others, allowing her students to move mindfully and safely while honoring their bodies and themselves. She teaches Hatha blend that adapts to every body. Poses often incorporate useful tools such as blocks, straps and foam rollers to support proper body alignment.
Most of us have experienced different types of injuries in the past or have had jobs where we needed to sit or stand for long periods; this causes imbalance in the body. Paleena’s intention is to share how we can take our yoga practice into our daily activities to create greater balance.
Paleena's small and intimate classes are structured in a way that supports each student wherever they may be in their yoga practice. New students report feeling confidence and ease with Paleena's guidance and support, while the more advanced students find a deeper awareness and balance in postures with the added focus on alignment.
Class schedules are posted in the office and on Paleena's website. She also offers private and semi-private classes and yoga retreats for a more individualized program.
